Below is a slightly reworked version of part one of a poem I wrote some years ago. For some reason unbeknownst even to myself I used to be into writing long poems - maybe it was my ulterior motive to drown people with words. Who knows?
This one ended up being written in five parts. I no longer know what must have imspired it but, whatever it was, it must have been a strong point of inspiration to generate such an epic poem.
At the bottom of the page is a link to the second part. I thought that it would be best to split the poem into a number of pages as otherwise you would end up scrolling for all eternity.

Forever I Love, Forever I Mourn [Part 1]

by Brodiss © 2003

  the day is long
the sun high above
blue sky
cool breeze

i stand among the trees
striving for invisibility
amongst the brown and green
trying to blend in
earth colours cover me
the wind tickles me playfully
i sigh
the world is orange

i stand among the trees
watching you
from a half-forgotten past

you see
but you do not remember
even the future is hazy
your jigsaw of time lies scattered
and i think
that you've lost some pieces

you look bewildered
lost
everything has become confusing
everyone has gone
abandoning you to a solitary fate
so you turn to me for help
your last resort
your lost hope

for so long
you ignored me
denied me any form of existence
but now
now you realise
and turn to me for aid
but you're too late
you turn
you turn
but i am gone
i crumbled away
letting the wind embrace my atoms

from the warm embrace of the wind
i watch you
through half-closed mind eyes
smiling at memories of might-have-beens
i watch you
wishing i could be there

but time ruled me
and i had to obey
i couldn't stay
not even as a hidden memory
in your mind

but
as the wind
whispers across
your, oh too, material form
can'r you feel my caresses
my kisses
the touch of my hand upon your own
my reassuring touch
can't you feel me
in the wind
can't you hear
my gentle murmurings in your ear?

i could exist no longer
no longer could i remain with you
to guard you
protect you
to hold and comfort you
through the darkness of the night

but
when the wind claimed me
tore me away despite my protestations
tore me away
from this mortal existence
i left you my eternal love

can't you feel it on the wind?
