Forever I Love, Forever I Mourn [Part 3]

a private muse

i recline upon a grass-gowned hill
looking out over a haze-filled valley
to heavy mountains beyond
it is summer
and they have doffed their caps of snow
for mountains enjoy the sunlight too

i think of you
so far away
you have found your success
and i am happy for you
if something brings you joy

i remember once
so long ago
vowing to always be near
to never abandon you to fate
to never leave you alone in this world

but i was not needed
future's light shone kindly upon you
and you found happiness
and so i left you
to enjoy your time in the sun

once again
i hear the flautist play
deep in my memory
and i smile
full of peace

happy
i leap into the arms of the wind
and dance with it
over the face of Earth
a mad wild
impetuous dance
whirling wildly
over land and sea

exhultant in our freedom
