Forever I Love, Forever I Mourn [Part 4]

by Brodiss © 2003

the night is long
the journey longer
and you are alone
or so you believe

you can't see me
sitting beside you
but then you never could
for i am no longer living like you

i watch you drive
so full of confidence you are
i look at your hands
so white
so soft
resting on the wheel
controlling this great metallic beast
with your gentle but firm touch

as i listen to
the deep dangerous purr
of the powerful motor
somehow it scares me
for it sounds too much like
your heartbeat
to be merely an engine running

it makes me nervous
and so i look to you once more
your dark eyes shine
in the strange glow
cast by the dashboard lights
green and eerie
almost ghostly
your eyes so beautiful

your pale face too
reflects the light
so proud it is
and yet sometimes
i've seen it glow
with love and laughter

sometimes the stern mask slips
ever so slightly
from your magnificent face
and i see the warmth
that eternally exists beneath
within your soul

i see your lips
so full of life and love
parted in a relaxed smile
brought on by mysterious thoughts
and i wonder
if you're just thinking
or if you're remembering

are you thinking of me
i hope so
mein heart
i wish so
i think constantly of you

my gaze moves
to your jet black hair
so sleek and short
clinging to your fine-formed skull
enhancing your beauty
soft to touch
if only i could

i kiss you gently on the face
of course you feel it not
then i take my leave of you
for the moment
the wind
my master
is beckoning me
i must obey
the wild side of my spirit
is, oh so, strong
dragging me away from you
but i will return
never fear

i always will return
