Long fades the night
Those who should know
Choose not to
And so the hollowness rides on.
Gathering the young
The innocent
The sometimes charming
In echoing hallways
Lined with eternal mirrors
Ah but would I know
The scent of freedom
If it was thrust
Upon my trust
Of a thousand hearts?
Or would I continue to fall
Beyond the appetites
Of beckoning arms?
I stand
I sit
I fly beyond the dreams
Looking for a moment when.
And the words fall endlessly
Only caught by those
Who refuse to hear
Whatever the emotion
That lies scrawled across the page.
And such words
Form the walls of the prison
A mountain of emotion
Caught in one brief longing
That recedes with all
All that would be held close
Precious in its own existence
Held to another time
Long fades the night
Those who would know
Choose not to
Leaving the hollowness to ride on.
Gathering neglected dreams
And the hopes of endless wishes
Leaving behind eternal hallways
Filled with shattered mirrors.
