Mangled Avocado is not so much a squashed fruit as an individual's perception and interpretation of at least one facet of reality. It is an attitude of existence represented by the fact that, although the avocado may be the most bland of fruits, it is also one which hides an elegant sufficiency of nutrition beneath its rough and somber-coloured husk. To mangle the flesh of the avocado is often the best way to prepare it for consumption, as it is not recommended that it be eaten whole. Mangled Avocado delves into the more somber aspects of life. Though its general atmosphere is one of solemn reflection, there still will be moments of humour which, though dark in inclination, will illustrate that, even in the deepest of musings, there can be an intrusion of wry laughter - even if it means laughing at the inevitable bleakness which often intrudes upon everyday life. Mangled Avocado is a site which will travel through various stages of growth as it explores the shadows which lie deep within every mind and which occasionally spread their tendrils to touch upon everyday life.

What's New? - 07/01/03 - The hiatus seemed to turn into more of a hibernation, or perhaps even cryogenic sleep. Other things took over and the poor Avocado was sadly neglected in terms of being mangled. Whether or not I will add to this site has yet to be determined. For the moment I am posting it here more of an archive of my work than anything else. You see, I am hoping that the Mangled Avocado gives birth to some other strange fruit in the not too distant future. Time will tell. - 24/06/01 - If absence does make the heart grow fonder then I must by adored by many. Full time work and part time study has left me little time for anything else, I'm sorry to say. And now it seems that Mangled Avocado will be going into hiatus for awhile as I search for a new home. Yes, I shall have to shift - Homestead has decided to restrict its hosting of Free Sites, so Mangled Avocado shall have to move on. - 27/01/01 - Back again. I thought I'd put up some more work to make up for the time I've been quiet. I have posted three poems on the Poetry page. Also, I have constructed a page about some of my favourite CDs from last year. The link to this can be found on my Rave'n page. Enjoy. - 31/12/00 - Just a brief note to wish everybody a Happy New Year for the year 2001. I have found that full time work, part time study and a computer that is possibly related to Hal has managed to slow my creative output to a crawl. However, I have every intention to mangle the avocado before January is out. So there should be some new work posted soon. - 19/8/2002 - Time has proved to be elusive once again. Other concerns have consumed what little time has been lying around - most frustrating. However I have posted a Rant, as opposed to a Rave, on my Rave'n page, and there are two new poems, "Inexplicable" and "Shards", on my Poetry page. - 14/7/2002 - Have
you ever heard of the mysterious Greeblie? No? Then find out more
on my 'S Real Too page. - 27/4/00 - It seems as if I've only just gone away and then I'm back again. Most peculiar. Just thought you might like to know that I have just posted a Surreal Gothic Story in verse on my 'S Real 2 page. I thought I'd get to post it last night but the damned thing just grew and grew. I haven't written a poem like this for a long time so let me know what you think of it. Back into the vault I go. |
