Fading Memories

© 2003 by Brodiss

Memories are fading
Merging with the black
Until I am nothing more
Than a faint whisper of the past
Trailing forlornly
Through the recesses of your mind
Destined to fall into nothing

Memories are fading
Becoming illusions
Mere reflections
Of what you want to be real
What use is truth
When it reveals nothing?

Memories are fading
Becoming nothing more than dreams
Half-remembered upon waking
The veil torn asunder
By dawn's early light
Leaving you to wonder
If any of it
Ever really existed at all

Memories are fading
I am no more
