A Ramble Through The Assorted Realities Of A Meandering Mind

I decided, at last, to free my Muse from its leash and let it wander unhindered for a time – however brief. I have no idea how long it will want to gambol in leafy glades for, but I am content, for now, to let it go where it wishes.

I suppose I should pause for a moment and explain the intended objective of this exercise – not that an explanation is any guarantee that things will go according to plan – heaven forfend that should happen. I thought that I would go on a bit of a ramble through my mind and allow you access to some of my thoughts and opinions: some of my perspectives on reality. Hell, I might even wax pseudo-philosophical at times. These figurative scribblings may be of no significance to the greater order of things but at least they are something that I can consider to be mine. They may mean nothing to you but they do mean something to me. Perhaps they'll even give you a perspective on how another person's mind works – if 'work' can be a term that can be applied to the erratic processes that I refer to as thinking. Sometimes I believe that the connections are not quite right but that's another story. By reading this, you are under no obligation to agree with me but I would appreciate it if you would bear in mind that they are my opinions and, as such, I am entitled to them. If you can't respect that, well, it would be best if you departed now before my Muse truly kicks in. Now that's cleared up, let's go for a bit of a stroll.

But what to write about? Do I go for the more deep and meaningful bent and ponder topics such as betrayal or the destruction of illusions by the passage of time? Or do I delve into the mysteries of why cats feel the necessity, no matter what you're doing, to sit exactly where they are can inconvenience one the most? [As I am writing this, I have a cat doing her best to prove the point by interposing herself between myself and the keyboard. And she will not be dissuaded. Not unless I am willing to risk the odd laceration.]

Ah, decisions, decisions. I think I shall content myself for this first rambling with the Muse to contemplate some of life's unanswerable questions. [Or is that 'unanswered'? If you do know the any of the answers to these questions, it would be great if you would email me as I would love to know.]

Some questions –

  • Why do cats choose to sit where they can disrupt your attempts to work the most?
  • Why do cats enjoy throwing up so much?
  • Why does it tend to rain more on weekends than during the week?
  • Why do people drive at 20 kms an hour under the speed limit until you try to pass them when they then go 30 kms an hour over the limit?
  • Why do you meet the most on-coming traffic in the areas where you want to pass a slow vehicle?
  • Why do you only ever accidentally spill things on yourself when you're wearing white?
  • Why do you only ever run into people you haven't seen for ages when you've got a pressing engagement?
  • Why would a chicken want to cross the road?
  • Why do blondes have more fun?
  • Shouldn't we encourage sleeping dogs to tell the truth?

I know there are many other questions which beg to be answered. But these are a start. If you would like to add to the list, please email your questions to me and I'll add them on.
