out across the plains
thoughts are fleeing
fast and far
i run with them
wild and free
free from the prison
that is my mind
the stars are falling
in long silver streaks
rushing to embrace the earth
hurtling
one after the other
trying to beat the moon
i laugh
and catch a few of them
twinkling softly in my palms
then I let them slip
slip through my fingers
to fall to the dark earth
they lie shining
for a moment
and then wink out
gone forever
contentment fills my soul
and with the stars
i disappear
gone forever
