Human Tide

© Brodiss 2002

The angry crowds pass quickly by
Surging over streets and sidewalks –
A vicious human tide
Flowing and ebbing eternally
Railing against all
That made them humanity

Resentment fills their eyes
For nothing provides them surcease
From the endless demands
And the endless commands
Which have all but swallowed
Their few time slivers of freedom

The roar of frustration so loud
It can no longer be heard
Drowning all the people
In crashing waves of sound
Steadily wearing away all
That made them humanity
