Another Man's Wife - Part 2

With a gentle pause, she stopped awhile
And, at my longing sigh, she did smile.
Feeling brave, I took her by the hand,
So slim and soft, with a wedding band.
And though I knew it was so wrong
I told her of my love so strong.

Her pixie ears did twinkle so
And my hand she did not let go.
With a voice as gentle as a breeze
That barely stirs the tips of trees,
She spoke to me of heartfelt passion
That she for me alone would fashion.

She kissed me twice upon the lips
A sweeter nectar no mortal man sips
And bade me meet her on the morrow
So we could assuage passion's throe.
With feverish look and clammy brow
To meet her I did gladly avow.

All that too long night I did fret
Not one wink of sleep did I get
Desire's demons danced in my head
As, sleepless, I lay in my small bed
Wishing for the breaking of dawn's light
To halt the endlessness of the night.

Then through my window casement small
Did the morning light so gently fall
And so I did leap eager to my feet
Anxious for my true love to meet.
With minted breath and polished hair
I abandoned attempts at a nonchalant air.

Leaving behind all my worries and cares
With joyous heart I tripped down the stairs,
A bouquet of flowers in one hand.
To my destination I almost ran
So anxious for my love to meet -
Again to taste those lips so sweet.

The abode decided upon for our tryst
Had an entrance I almost missed
When the address I finally did find
Its façade almost made me change my mind
For all the walls were worn and grey
And in the grounds naught but weeds held sway.

Of neglect the old house spoke clearly
With rusty gate hinges creaking drearly,
Green and grey the shrubs grew wild
Like some overgrown ill-tempered child
And in a tangled, twisted tree
A raven croaked menacingly at me.
