Words Have Fled

© Brodiss 2002
There is so much I would say
If I could but find the words
But they have fled from me
Gone away
Back to a much happier day
When the sun shone through the trees
And I didn't know you wouldn't stay

Now my mouth is made of clay
Only mumbling thick words of no meaning
As my thoughts desperately seek some way
To tell you all that could not be said
Desiring to keep fears at bay
That careless words would build endless walls
And emotions, they would carelessly slay

I fear all has gone awry
And now I have no choice
But to die

Is it time to say goodbye?
