I am going to start a web journal 'right here, right now' - to quote Jesus Jones. I mean, it's all the craze isn't it - spill your guts on the internet - figuratively not literally, one hopes - and the whole cyberworld gets to read about your little slice of life - mmm, can I have pickles with that? So who am I not to join in with this current fad - I used to write once upon a lifetime ago - reams and reams of potential reject slips in the making that never quite made it to the rejection stage. Just as well as maybe, as rejection is mighty close to dejection in my rhyming dictionary. So maybe this exercise will rekindle my writing embers once again. One never knows. bowing
So this is going to be my very own online journal - exactly like a blog only not. Though this may one day evolve into that particular format - after all, this site is Subject To Change - bit like the weather really only maybe not quite as dry. I may not write in this journal every day but I will try to contribute my personal jottings on a regular basis - bit like prunes really. And - unlike prunes - I can't promise to always make sense - too much Spike Jones and the City Slickers during my childhood marked only the beginning of a steady downward spiral into a realm where few dare to follow. (Thanks Dad for that particular corrupting influence.)

Well guys, confession time tonight. I am no longer an Amazon virgin. Shock, horror, it is true. The Australian dollar has been strengthening - must be the vitamins - so I finally succumbed and ordered something from Amazon. I have always been a bit cautious regarding purchasing things over the net but realized that there are some things - like Spike Jones records - that I'll never be able to wrap my ears around unless I take the plunge. So I plunged - plummeted really - and found that the water wasn't too chilly. If the parcel arrives successfully, no doubt I'll get all excited - like Big Kev - so I'll have to be careful not to become an Amazon junkie. I'd hate for my friends to find me splayed in some dark alley with a maxed-out credit card clenched tightly in my cold fist. Just thinking about the potential orders is making me dizzy so I think I should go lie down before I fall off my chair.wave

My parents are still traipsing around Western Australia. My father rang yesterday - seems they're really enjoying themselves. It's just as well - going to WA from the east coast is a once in a lifetime trip for most people - it's cheaper to fly overseas. They still have some exploring to do before they start back. They're going to drive back across the Nullabor - a very isolated journey. Dad's got his newfangled MP3 player though so, while it might be a long lonely journey, it won't be quiet. Hope he doesn't scare too many bushes.

I'm glad that they've gone on this trip for two reasons. The most obvious is that this is a truly unique experience - so is having your head slammed in a door but I wouldn't recommend that one - but also for much of the time they haven't had access to a telephone. That means that dear old ma hasn't been able to ring me up to remind me that I should be eating more vegetables because fruit is fattening. Yes, honestly, that was one of her parting wise observations which she shared with me before gallivanting across to the other side of this vast continent. I am fully expecting the Fruitgrower's Association to have words with her when they uncover that little gem.

At the moment I'm investigating whether chocolate is a fruit or a vegetable - I'm hoping that it's the latter.

Dr Who is back on television. Dr Who is back on television. (Dance a little dance of delight.)stickman dancing After so many years absence, one of my favourite ever shows has returned. And (repeated exclamation marks) they are starting at the very beginning - without all the gingham dresses from Sound of Music - and showing all the episodes that still exist. It's almost enough to make me start quoting Jabberwocky. So, at last, I am going to see all the episodes I've never seen, as well as the ones that are only the faintest of recollections from my distant childhood. Styrofoam rock city, here we come.bounce happily

Well, it was definitely an unusual feeling to watch Dr Who once more. Strange how even now, the familiar sound of the theme music still gives me goosebumps. It's certainly a retro experience. So sixties. The first show should have been called 'The Unearthly Beehive' instead of 'The Unearthly Child'. Barbara's 'hive mightn't be the blue magnificence of Marge Simpson's but it's still there, it's got 'tude and it's not going away - well, not for quite a number of episodes at least. And yes, the Styrofoam rocks made their presence heard. Never realised Styrofoam was so heavy though - the actors seemed to have considerable difficulty shifting it.

Paid the Photoshop Contest site a visit tonight. I've been so busy working on Subject To Change that I haven't been doing many posts there recently - will have to get my act together and start doing it again - it's not that I get that many votes - and please refrain from any snide comments regarding that, thank you very much - but I do find the Need for Speed in posting an image to be a good challenge - keeps the creative thoughts all sparky and jumping about madly.

Not that much to report or wax lyrical about today I'm afraid. Finally got my B into G and bought a tripod and a cable release for my camera. Now I'll be able to resume my night time photography and, if we ever get a decent lightning storm (hahaha to that happening), I'll be able to see if I can get some more shots of lightning. (Please note kiddies, photographing lightning can be very dangerous and should only be attempted by professionals or fools - with me falling into the latter category I must admit.)

Did contemplate buying a digital camera - for the ease of use and ability to reject faulty shots - but realised the money - which I don't have anyway - would be better spent on a zoom lens for my faithful SLR. Okay, so it costs to get film developed but I'd have to shoot a hell of a lot of dud shots before the money I'd outlaid came anywhere close to cost of a semi-decent digital camera. And, truth be told, I would really prefer to get a digital SLR and they cost lots of money. (Donations to the usual address please.) typing smiley
